Abigail's "Everyman's Library" Library

Hello! Welcome to my Online Library!

My name is Abigail. I am 12 years old and love to read.  Time flies as my mom always says because I was nine when I started collecting and started this site!

But enough about getting old, ha!  I'll jump right into it, and without further ado, here is the story of my very own library I am creating and building and tracking with this fun website:

After hearing my mom talk one day about how I love to read poetry, a friend of hers – who loves to read as well – mailed me a little book of Emily Dickinson’s poetry. But no, this wasn’t just any little book, but a book by his favorite publisher called Everyman’s Library. This yellow gem, I quickly learned was what is called an Everyman’s Library “Pocket Poet!”

And just like that, with that one adorable little Pocket Poet, it wasn’t even hardly ten minutes after opening the present that I learned that there are actually 127 of these wonderful, poetic treasures!

And 62 Everyman’s Library Children’s Classics!

And 35 Everyman’s Library Pocket Classics: short-story collections!

And the rest, as they say, is history: Let’s collect and read all of these wonderful poets and their poems said my Mom and I!  And why not the Children’s Classics as well? And why not the great, literary short stories even still?

By day’s end, a hobby was born!!!!!

So again, thank you for visiting my little library of literary and poetic treasures - and be sure to have a look below from time to time to track my progress! Why not come along with me for the ride? As Robert Frost invites his readers in his famous poem The Pasture:

“I sha'n't be gone long. - You come too."

Happy Reading!

Abigail
